Legal Counsel (Information, Integrity & Compliance)Swinburne University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel (Information, Integrity & Compliance) to support the University's commitment to upholding its information, compliance, and integrity obligations.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of critical compliance frameworks and services.
As Legal Counsel, you will:Provide expert legal advice on Complaints, Reviews, Appeals, and Misconduct (CRAM) matters.
Provide authoritative and practical legal advice on Freedom of Information, Privacy issues, and Regulatory Disputes.Review and enhance the University's Compliance Framework and policies.Drive the adoption of best practices in compliance, regulatory, and integrity areas across the University.Collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring Swinburne meets its legal and ethical responsibilities.
Reporting directly to the Director, Integrity & Compliance, you will work within the Legal, Risk & Compliance department, contributing to the strategic goals of the University.

About YouTo be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and integrity requirements in a complex organisational and regulatory environment.Demonstrated ability to interpret existing policy and relate it to work assignments; and to provide advice on policies and frameworks.Demonstrated organisational and time management skills including the ability to plan ahead, work under pressure, prioritise multiple tasks and display thoroughness, sound judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to follow tasks through to completion.Demonstrated ability to solve problems including adapting work practices and innovative solutions.Preferred experience in providing legal advice on FOI (Freedom of Information) and privacy matters and experience in advising on disputes in Courts, Tribunals, and Regulatory bodies.QualificationsMaintain a valid practicing certificate in accordance with Victorian Legal Services Board requirements and is authorised to engage in legal practice as a corporate legal practitioner in Victoria.
Relevant qualifications and relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
