In 2017, JD Sports first established itself within the Australian market and has since expanded to 60+ stores in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA & TAS with many more to come!THE ROLEJD Sports is on the lookout for a Legal Counsel to provide guidance and advice for any legal matters relating to JD Sports ANZ. The Legal Counsel manages the day-to-day activities involved in decision making relating to legal issues or requirements and provides legal recommendations based on local and global business priorities and directive. Reporting into the Chief Financial & Operating Officer, the Legal Counsel is responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:Offer practical and commercially sound legal advice on a wide range of topics such as commercial contracts, property law, employment law, consumer protection law, competition law, promotions clearance, data protection and privacy law, intellectual property law, and other global legal frameworks.Collaborate closely with our Senior Leadership Team to provide commercially sensible counsel and guidance.Create, assess, and negotiate various types of commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, consultancy agreements, master services agreements, supplier trading agreements and credit applications, software licensing agreements, marketing agreements and competitions, supply chain and distribution agreements, property agreements, operational growth and expansion agreements.Provide guidance on potential matters related to privacy, data, and security, working alongside our IT team. This includes conducting investigations, handling notifications, and resolving issues. Additionally, develop recommendations for key stakeholders regarding updates to policies and initiatives that promote best practices in privacy and data protection.Support the continuous development and launch of significant compliance and governance initiatives, with a focus on business ethics and the implementation of substantial compliance programs. This includes areas such as modern slavery, packaging reporting and compliance, and related subjects.Collaborate with colleagues at our parent company, JD Sports Fashion Plc, as needed, on legal, governance, regulatory, and compliance initiatives that extend across the entire group.Offer advice and manage the resolution of various disputes and regulatory matters.WHO YOU ARE* 5-6 years PQE in a top-tier law firm, or alternatively in-house in a large multinational corporation, with strong contract drafting and negotiation skills and business advisory on general legal and compliance topics.* Combined Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB), Master of Laws (LLM) or Juris Doctor (JD) with strong academic credentials.* Admitted to practice as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and/or High Court of Australia.WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?Monthly culture committee eventsCentral CBD locationPre-pay day lunchesBirthday leaveCompetitive SalaryOne month paid parental leaveReferral bonus schemeTraining and development to evolve and shape your careerOpportunity to progress across all areas of the business including Retail, Support Office and our Distribution CentreTreat yourself with our attractive staff discount!
