This is an opportunity to grow your corporate legal practice in a high performing, collaborative team within a leading ASX listed property company on a strong growth trajectory.As a Legal Counsel you will provide technically excellent legal advice to business units across the GPT Group, particularly in relation to corporate, funds management, investment management, capital partnering, finance, governance, and general commercial matters.Working closely with Senior Legal Counsel and stakeholders across the business, you will be a key member of deal teams.
This position also provides opportunity to actively contribute to legal projects that drive continuous improvement and business value.What you will be doing
Giving technically excellent legal advice on a broad range of areas focusing on corporate, funds management, investment management, capital partnering, finance, governance, and general commercial legal matters across the GPT Group.Identifying and managing legal issues and risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.Collaborating with stakeholders as a strategic business partner on transactions.
The ability to break down complex legal matters for a non-legal audience will be invaluable.Identifying any cross-department matters including tax, compliance and finance and collaborating with those teams to drive business outcomes.Managing external lawyers to ensure the provision of quality and cost-effective external legal service and strong external law firm relationships.Supporting the broader Legal, Governance and Compliance Team including advising on conflicts and related party transactions, developing, and enhancing legal, governance and compliance precedents, policies, and training.What makes you stand out
This position requires a strategic and commercial thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.You will currently be a Lawyer with a practising certificate and approx.
6 - 9 years post qualification experience; presently in a reputable law firm or in house working in a corporate transactions team such as M&A, funds management, capital markets, finance, private equity.Prior experience in real estate or funds will be well regarded, although not essential.
