In this role, you will work closely with internal teams and stakeholders, providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring the company operates within the legal and regulatory framework.
You will manage legal risks and navigate complex regulatory matters while supporting business growth and decision-making.
Effectively mitigate and manage legal risks in the market.Resolve disputes and legal issues promptly and in a commercially sensible manner.Provide accurate, tailored legal advice that aligns with and supports business strategy.The role offers an opportunity to learn directly from the Senior Legal Counsel who is keen to see people grow and thrive from within the business.
Opportunity to step up, and work closely with a mentor who is also the Head of Corporate and Legal Affairs.
This is a close knit team.
Permanent Full time role, located in Norwest, Sydney.
Principle Accountabilities Strategic legal advice: Engage with and advise senior leadership on key business decisions to ensure alignment with company goals.Manage and mitigate legal risks across multiple areas, including regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and corporate governance.Lead the negotiation, drafting, and review of complex contracts, ensuring they are legally sound and commercially beneficial.Advise on regulatory compliance matters, ensuring adherence to industry laws, including data protection, competition law, and product regulations.Oversee dispute resolution, including litigation and settlement negotiations, to protect the company's interests.Monitor legal, regulatory and legislative developments, providing proactive insights and ensuring the business remains compliant with evolving laws.Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance: Advise on tobacco control and next-generation-product laws to ensure regulatory compliance.Review, draft, and negotiate customer and supplier contracts.Support the business in complying with industry-specific legislation, including competition law and data protection.Monitor the legal environment for emerging risks, advise on mitigation strategies, and support the drafting of regulatory submissions.Skills and Experience Required Australian qualified lawyer with 5+ years of experience in a corporate, FMCG/ commercial environment.Strong expertise in regulatory compliance, contract law, and risk management.Proven ability to influence business strategy and manage cross-functional relationships.Strong commercial awareness with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional teams.Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.What We Offer Hybrid/flexible working opportunities as well as inspiring places to work and collaborate with purpose.
