We're currently seeking a Legal Counselto join our Melbourne based team.
About the role The Legal Counsel will deliver high quality, commercially focused legal services, in a manner that's aligned to the strategic and commercial objectives of Movember. This role will work across Movember, supporting both impact-driving and income-generating activities. This will include providing legal support and advice.
To Movember's Fundraising team with commercial partnerships and advice about fundraising activities (including prizing and contests); about social media and PR-related matters; that support's Movember's "back-of-house" operations and corporate services functions around commercial agreements, compliance and general legal matters; about various grant-based programs, research funding, and other commercial arrangements that deliver on Movember's strategic mission to Change the Face of Men's Health; in relation to privacy law, brand protection, risk management and insurance; to ensure Movember meets all legal and regulatory requirements. This role will report to the Global Managing Legal Counsel and sits within the Legal & Governance team. Movember's Legal & Governance team is led by the Global General Counsel, and reports into Movember's Chief Operations Officer. The Legal & Governance team is small but mighty, and each member works in a highly collaborative manner, with a strong focus on problem solving and business partnering in an agile and human-centred way.
You'll have the opportunity to Provide high quality, pragmatic, independently-minded and commercially-focused legal support on a wide range of matters supporting Movember's fundraising and revenue generating as well as research and program related activities in a timely and effective manner. Regularly support others to negotiate with Movember's partners and third-party service providers. Drafting and reviewing contracts in various forms including funding agreements, partnership agreements, IP licensing and services agreements. Provide advice in relation to Movember's global portfolio of trademarks and support the protection of Movember's brand. Advise on privacy, data protection and SPAM laws. Lead the management of the Movember insurance portfolio including renewals and sharing of information to all levels of the organisation including in preparation of board papers. Where required support the relationships with external legal advisors to achieve value for money from those providers. For this role, you'll need Unrestricted qualification to practice law in Victoria, with 3 – 6 years' PQE. Experience in negotiation and management of legal contracts. Some experience in dealing with regulatory and contractual issues in countries outside of Australia. Ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders - internal and external. Highly developed organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively. Ability to work in a fast paced and growth environment. A good awareness of global privacy and data protection laws is essential (experience advising in this area is desirable). A team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with global internal stakeholders and external parties. Bonus points for Top tier law firm or in-house legal experience. Experience advising on: intellectual property law technology contracts charitable & fundraising law Why Movember?
