About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal - Energy, we have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Governance team where you will manage and support the day-to-day legal requirements and strategic projects for our Energy and Markets Business Units.
The team has a broad remit and you will have the opportunity to support on a range of work across our portfolio development activities, our existing generation and storage assets, and our wholesale market trading activities (electricity, gas, environmental products and carbon abatement), including:
Work on energy transition projects (the team is currently supporting the Wooreen Battery Project; the Hallett Battery Project, the Lake Lyell pumped hydro Project; and the Mt Piper Battery Project, to name a few)
Design Supply and Install Contracts, Maintenance Contracts, Services Contracts, Works Contracts
Innovative offtake arrangements, including Energy Storage Services Agreements, Battery Storage Services Agreements, as well as Power Purchase Agreements (electricity and environmental products)
A wide range of electricity, gas and environmental product agreements
Regulatory changes
How can you support the Clean Energy Transition
You will have a degree in Law as well as a current practicing certificate and significant post-qualification legal experience with a reputable Australian law firm or large corporate.
Previous experience providing advice on some of the areas described above including in the construction industry and/or corporate mergers and acquisitions. You will have a can-do attitude and be keen to develop your capabilities in the energy sector.
Ability to work autonomously and lead large complex matters.
Present with strong and effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
In addition to your technical skills, you will be able to combine "big-picture" and strategic thinking with being detail focused and capable of identifying issues.
