The role plays a vital role in managing legal risks and ensuring compliance in the Australian and New Zealand markets. This position supports the Senior Legal Counsel and collaborates with various internal stakeholders. Permanent Full time role, located in Norwest, Bellavista Sydney. Legal Risk Management: Identify legal issues and advise on risk mitigation. Strategic Legal Advice: Provide insights on legal matters to inform strategic decisions. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with teams to integrate legal considerations into operations. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on laws and regulations to ensure adherence. Legal commercial processes: Expertise in navigating regulatory law, commercial contract law, Australian competition and consumer law. Principle Accountabilities Legal & Regulatory: Advise on tobacco control and next-generation-product laws. Review and negotiate customer and supplier contracts. Ensure compliance with industry legislation, competition law and data protection. Monitor the legal environment for risks and mitigation strategies. Work with external lawyers as needed. Compliance: Develop and deliver compliance training on legal privilege, competition law, and privacy. Provide IP advice in coordination with the Group IP team. Ensure compliance with consumer law through the consumer response team. Update internal policies. Draft regulatory submissions. Performance Indicators Effectively mitigate and manage legal risks in the market. Resolve disputes and issues promptly and commercially. Deliver tailored, accurate legal advice to support business strategy. Skills and Experience Required Law: Australian qualified lawyer with 4 years PQE. Experience: Background in a top/mid-tier law firm or in-house at an FMCG/global organization, focusing on commercial and regulatory matters. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage diverse stakeholders. Commercial Awareness: Experience providing in-house legal advice. Leadership: Strong skills in guiding and influencing teams, communicate at all levels. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
