We are looking for a highly motivated Legal Counsel to join Brightwater, a respected not-for-profit organisation based in Western Australia. This role offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a legal professional who is eager to make a meaningful impact within the organisation.
As Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice and support across a broad spectrum of matters, including contracts, agreements, regulatory compliance, and litigation. This position is ideal for someone with strong commercial acumen, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to influence and drive excellence.
We are seeking a part-time lawyer, working 0.6 FTE, with flexibility to accommodate 0.5 FTE if required. The position is based at Brightwater Central in Inglewood.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting Brightwater's governance structures and ensuring legal compliance. You will be responsible for a range of legal and governance tasks aimed at safeguarding the organisation's reputation, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, and supporting its business objectives.

The ability to salary package up to $18,550 annually, meaning you can legitimately pay less tax and increase your take-home pay by approximately $10,000 each year.

To be successful in this role you will have:
Tertiary degree in Law.
Eligible to practice as a solicitor in WA with a current (unrestricted) practising certificate.
Experience in fields relevant to Brightwater's business needs.
Ability to provide commercially focused legal advice and support.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with stakeholders.
Good research, problem solving and analytical skills with ability to identify issues and potential solutions in a way that promotes the values and behaviours of the organisation and mitigates reputational risk.
Ability to work autonomously and as a collaborative team member with a high degree of professionalism, initiative and motivation.
Strong organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise activities and deliver quality outputs to tight timeframes.
Current Western Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
A satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening check.
Satisfactory National Police Certificate obtained within the last 12 months.
