supporting the growth of their overseas interests and ensuring that overseas campuses are aware and following regulations as required.Student Services:
Legal support for student enquiries related to diverse topics from accommodations, unions, and societies.
You will be the point of liaison to ensure that queries are answered.Ad-Hoc Support:
Provide ad-hoc legal support to internal clients on front-end topics including marketing, social media policy, copyright matters.This role works as part of a broader legal function, so whilst the activities above are the main topics on which you will work, you are likely to be involved in diverse topics.
Therefore, beyond pure legal, you will also be expected to:Management:
Line management responsibility for 1 FTE.Stakeholder Engagement:
Legal has an excellent reputation and engagement score internally.
The successful incumbent will be expected to maintain this relationship and be a knowledgeable, responsive legal partner to internal clients and senior leadership functions.Education Regulation Expert:
Be highly confident to advise on nuances around the HE and VE regulatory landscape and advise on different topics competently.The Successful ApplicantQualified Lawyer with unrestricted practicing certificate.Demonstrable experience and knowledge of Education Regulation is highly desirable.
Previous commercial law experience in higher education/university environment will also be considered, so long as you demonstrate a willingness to learn Ed Reg quickly!
These topics include but are not limited to:TEQSA Act/ HESF and NVETR ActESOS RegulationELICOSHigher Education Support ActStrong communication skills and ease of building relationships inside and outside of legal.Working with Children Check Required.What's on OfferThe Role/s:- 12 month contract from March 2025 reporting direct to Directorate and with 1 direct report;- Competitive FTC salary; stated salary is a guideline depending on experience.Please note there is also a 3 month contract starting in January 2025, so if you are immediately available and have Higher Education Legal experience then please don't hesitate to reach out.
Due to the urgency of the January start, you do not need to have the same depth of knowledge in Education Regulation.
