Legal Counsel (Commercial Contracting Legal) Allygroup is seeking a future-minded Legal Counsel to join a Commonwealth agency based in Melbourne on a 15-month secondment.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and innovative environment where you will be responsible for providing high-quality legal advice and services on matters relating to operations and other business activities.
The role is focused on supporting the organisation with the commercial arrangements that underpin its business operations such as procurement.
Some of the key duties include: Provide timely commercial legal advice and support on various arrangements and issues.
Review, draft, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including agreements for services, software licenses, Commonwealth templates and complex technology arrangements.
Manage legal risk and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Assist with key regulatory reporting and continuous improvement of legal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Monitor external legal fee expenditures and administer contract management systems.
Collaborate with senior legal team members to manage legal risk and contribute to internal training initiatives.
Liaise with external counsel on legal matters and monitor relevant legislation and regulatory developments affecting the organization.

Competency in managing legal risk and drafting commercial contracts.
A solutions-driven mindset, with the ability to provide concise, well-structured, and commercially focused legal advice.
The capability to participate in and contribute to projects of strategic importance to the Legal Team as required.
Key Requirements: A law degree from an Australian tertiary institution or other legal qualification recognised for the purpose of admission to legal practice in Victoria or another State of Australia.
Admitted to practice in Victoria or another State of Australia as a solicitor and be currently eligible to hold an unconditional Victorian legal practising certificate.
Post-qualification experiences of 4-8 years.
