What are we looking for?
A rewarding opportunity is now available to join our highly regarded National Abuse Law team in our Brisbane office.
We are now seeking a specialised Personal Injury Lawyer (8+ PAE) on a full time permanent basis.

The role of Legal Counsel at Slater and Gordon is recognised as a deep subject matter expert and leader in their designated area of law.
In this role, you will be responsible for the management of an abuse law practice, including the effective resolution of complex and litigated matters, and responsible for contributing to the development and success of your practice area more broadly.

Duties and responsibilities in this role will include: Role model superior technical expertise in the abuse practice group, actively contributing to excellent client outcomes and contributing to a high performing, effective and collegiate working environment.
Conduct and manage a high number of new client matters, managing client expectations on difficult and complex matters and working with senior practitioners, counsel and external experts as required to clarify complex legal issues.
Function as the acknowledged expert in the abuse law practice area.
Build a reputation as a referral contact point for existing clients and institutional referrals.
Develop strong and trusted relationships with counsel and other key stakeholders both internally and externally in the legal market.
Actively work to raise both your own and your practice group's profile through the publication of media stories both internally and externally.
Effectively manage your own file load and file management in accordance with the National Practice Standards and PMS baseline compliance.
Comply with the firm's National Practice Standards.
Other duties as directed.
What will you bring?
It is imperative that as a Legal Counsel Lawyer with the firm, you will be required to make regular complex decisions that will impact directly on your matters, but in consultation with your direct manager and wider practice managers, will assist in the development of the practice group.
You will also bring the following skills and attributes:
Post admission experience (8+ PAE) as a Personal Injury Lawyer.
Sound legal technical experience (ability to analyse case viability; superior case management exposure; achieving best outcomes for clients).
An ability to build strong relationships with all levels of staff.
Solution orientated problem-solving skills.
Taking a systematic and structured approach to work.
Effective planning, contract and delivery of projects.
Ability to show initiative.
Sound technical and functional skills to support others.
A team player.
