Mahons Lawyers are an established and respected law firm located in Blackburn and South Morang, Victoria. We provide quality legal services across a range of areas but particularly in the Wills and Estates area.As part of our expansion, we are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our Wills and Estates team in our Blackburn office on a full-time basis.The opportunityAs a Legal Assistant in our Blackburn office, you will play a crucial role in assisting our clients with applications for Probate and Letters of Administration as well as assisting in the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney. You'll work closely with our experienced legal professionals to ensure efficient and accurate handling of estates and general estate planning, both general and complex.ResponsibilitiesCollaborating with our legal team to provide exceptional service to our clients;Assisting practitioners with preparing draft Wills and Powers of Attorney;Assisting in applications for Probate and Letters of Administration in both general and complex estates;Ascertaining assets and liabilities of deceased persons;Preparing routine documents and correspondence and Statements of Assets and Liabilities;Liaising with clients following the taking of instructions by practitioner;Diary and File Management;Preparing Distribution Statements to beneficiaries;Administration of and attending to distribution of estate proceeds to beneficiaries.Skills and experienceThe role would suit a candidate with previous experience in providing legal or general administrative office support.
