About the branch The Public Law and Planning branch operates in the epicentre of public law practice in Victoria, consisting of three legal teams:
The Human Rights team focuses on human rights under Victoria's Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006.The Land Acquisition, Planning and Environment team spans advice and litigation on planning, built heritage, land acquisition, and compensation.The Constitution and Advice team handles advice work and litigation on Federal and State constitutional law, Treaty, and judicial review proceedings.About the role An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join our Branch as part of the legal support team that provides efficient and effective administrative support to a team of solicitors within the branch.
Key responsibilities include the preparation of correspondence and court documents; amending and formatting those documents; file management of all legal files in electronic format; and managing hard copy documents. You'll also be responsible for reducing the administrative workload of your solicitors, such as diary and email management, monthly billing, and conducting research using online databases and systems when required.
About the successful applicant The ideal candidate will preferably have previous legal support experience in a litigation environment, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with demonstrated experience in performing a range of high-level administrative support duties in a professional services environment.
