We are seeking an experienced legal assistant to support a number of lawyers in our disputes team. Exposure to litigation work is essential.
About the Team Our Melbourne Dispute Resolution & Litigation (DR&L) team deals with a vast range of disputes for clients across a variety of industry sectors for government, national and international clients, listed companies, SMEs, private companies and individuals.
About the Role Our Melbourne office is currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to provide administrative support to our DR&L group. The role offers the opportunity to support a number of lawyers including Special Counsel, Senior Associates and lawyers. In addition, you will be working alongside two experienced legal assistants.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
Drafting routine correspondence and documentation including the use of precedents, style guides and firm standards Managing emails, diaries and voicemails for the team File and team organisation E-lodgement of documents Production of PowerPoint presentations and assisting in the organisation of seminars and events Preparation of bills and dealing with billing queries from clients Assisting with processing of expenses claims Opening and closing files (including archiving) Collating briefs to counsel, including 'e-briefs' Electronic Court filing Monthly billing and entering time (Expert) General administration This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, high-performing and collaborative team.
About You You will possess experience supporting a number of lawyers and have gained exposure to litigation matters. In particular, we are seeking a candidate with the following attributes:
Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint Experience with end of month billing (Aderant experience will be highly regarded) Able to communicate in a professional manner with clients and colleagues Active team member, who is able to autonomously complete tasks and assist others to complete tasks Develops good working relationships Excellent literacy Strong attention to detail Plans and prioritises work to meet deadlines Possesses a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for their work and uses their initiative Deals with sensitive information appropriately To be successful, you will be a self-starter, demonstrate exceptional communication skills and drive, have outstanding attention to detail and proficient word processing skills. In addition, you will be able to manage multiple priorities and enjoy a busy work environment.
