We are looking for a highly-driven and compassionate Legal Assistant to join our Personal Injury team.
The role is full-time, although we will consider 4 days per week or equivalent (30 hours split over multiple days) for the right candidates to accommodate your study program.
The role is based at our Wollongong office.
The Day-To-DayA Legal Assistant is the entry position into our firm; we do not have a graduate program.
You will be a full member of our team, assisting one-to-two lawyers with their file load and developing the essential practical experience, professional skills and working knowledge to flourish in the law.
You will:
Coordinate all aspects of appointments, meetings and calls.Manage complex calendars on an ongoing basis.Manage, sort and collate incoming correspondence.Be the key point of communication on behalf of the lawyers you assist, liaising with external legal professionals, barristers and most importantly, our clients.Review files and documents and assist with drafting correspondence, briefs, pleadings and more.Assist lawyers with the day-to-day running and administration of their files.This is a great opportunity to work in a modern, cutting-edge legal office while still enjoying a friendly environment that invests in you and the development of these skills that will hold you in good stead in practice.

In the role you will develop:Experience in litigation practice.Experience dealing with clients and their expectations.Build your communication skills with clients and other lawyers.Liaise with Counsel, medical professionals and other experts.Develop your legal writing skills.Learn and hone forensics skills as you assist the lawyers.About the required skills:1+ years' experience in a legal setting.Strong organizational skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.High level of professional integrity and confidentiality.Courtesy and good manners.Make sure to include: Resume, CV; Cover Letter; and Academic Transcript (for current law students).
