About the role An exciting opportunity exists for an eager and enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office and provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our solicitors. This role will float amongst the organisation, depending on business needs, and is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of legal work as you rotate between six different branches, covering a vast array of areas of legal expertise:
Commercial, Property & TechnologyPublic Law & PlanningInquiries, Prosecutions & Administrative LawWorkplace Relations & Occupational SafetyResponsibilities Preparing correspondence and court documents – drafting and typing (dictaphone)File management – maintaining orderly, up to date legal files in electronic and hard copy formatDiary and email management – monitoring emails, calendars and recording deadlinesTelephone assistance – both incoming and screeningGeneral administration – photocopying, couriers, billing, relieving receptionLooking for ways to reduce the administrative workload of solicitorsAbout the successful applicant The ideal candidate will preferably have previous legal support experience in a law firm; however, we are keen to hear from candidates with demonstrated experience in performing a range of high-level administrative support duties in a professional services environment.You will bring with you to this role:Previous administrative experience in a professional services environmentAbility to prioritise and effectively manage time to meet competing prioritiesConfident in providing high-level administrative assistance to multiple operators in a busy environmentBe a self-starter who takes initiative and has the ability to operate autonomouslyHigh attention to detail with a commitment to service excellenceIn return, you will be provided with the opportunity to build a long-term career with ongoing learning and development opportunities.
