About the role We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people who have experience in supporting lawyers working in a fast-paced and dynamic legal environment. Working in a growing team, you will gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into legal practices within the Australian Public Service.
You will play a key role in supporting the General Counsel Office to ensure work priorities are achieved in a timely manner. You will coordinate and manage all business aspects of the office and be accountable for organising your workload and undertaking complex administrative support work.
You will have good judgment and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You value building productive working relationships and enjoy working in a collaborative and evolving environment.
You will also be a proactive problem solver with a flexible attitude and strong attention to detail who can effectively manage competing and changing priorities.
As the APS4 Legal Administration Assistant, you will be responsible for:
Conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing documentationPreparing matters for conference and hearing, including preparation of court and legal documents and general correspondenceMaintaining legal files and coordinating filing of material relating to mattersMonitoring agency reporting requirements and timeframes to the OLSCManaging file creations, reviews and reporting on contingent gains and liabilitiesManaging the process for submissions on 305 funding for Official Trustees in conjunction with the relevant lawyerManaging training reports for legal professional development for team membersManaging procurement activitiesChecking goods receipt for incoming invoicesResponding to enquiries of moderate complexity from internal and external stakeholdersManagement of correspondenceWhy AFSA? Eligibility Please note that this opportunity is open only to Australian Citizens.
The successful applicant must have or be willing to undergo and maintain a security clearance to the level of Baseline as a condition of employment. To satisfy character requirements, all AFSA employees must undergo a police records check.
Where a person has received a redundancy benefit from APS agency employment and their corresponding redundancy benefit period has not expired, they may be ineligible for employment. Candidates may be required to complete work sample testing as part of this selection process.
This recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing position. A merit pool of suitable candidates may be established as a result of this process to assist AFSA to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions that may become available over the next 18 months from the date of the original advertisement.
