The Discipline of Medicine offers the sole undergraduate medical program in Western Australia, which aims to produce graduates with primary care expertise, strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in interprofessional teams, meeting diverse community healthcare needs.
Your new role As our MBBS expands, we seek a leader to support and coordinate the Problem Based Learning (PBL) component of the course, which is fundamental to medical education in our curriculum.
The Foundation years (1-3) feature a spiral curriculum centred around patient cases, explored through weekly PBL tutorials.
Responsibilities of the PBL Lead include: Leading PBL tutorials and guiding student discussions; Conducting weekly briefing and debriefing sessions for PBL tutors; Supporting the Peer Review of Educational Practice (PREP) process by assisting with the evaluation of PBL tutors; Contributing to the development and implementation of the PBL tutor training program; Addressing tutor queries and challenges related to specific cases or group dynamics; Facilitating the weekly collection and review of student feedback on their engagement with the PBL process.

Essential Criteria: A medical degree and doctoral qualification (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing).
Experience in health care education Demonstrated experience in educational theory and practice Demonstrated commitment to advancing teaching excellence and fostering innovative educational practices.
High-level communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable: Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner without any current undertakings or conditions.
Fellowship of a relevant medical college in Australia.
