Full time continuing position. Located on the Camperdown Campus, Camden Campus or Centre of Crop and Digital Agriculture in Narrabri (NSW) in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney.
Exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Lecturer or Senior Lecturer of Pasture Production to join the Faculty of Science.
Base Salary (Level B or C) $122,830 - $173,492 p.a + 17% superannuation.
About the opportunity
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) at The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer of Pasture Production. The University has significant disciplinary strength in agriculture including plant production & breeding, digital agriculture, agricultural robotics, soil science, animal production, and hydrology.
The successful applicant will bring knowledge of pasture production, agronomy, utilisation, and management. They will have a track record of success in teaching, research, and publications commensurate with an early/mid-career agricultural scientist. The successful applicant will have research interests that complement and/or enrich the existing strengths of the School and will contribute to current research programs and initiate internationally-leading research programs.
SOLES has a program of undergraduate teaching in agriculture, and the successful applicant will contribute to this teaching program through subjects in plant and animal production at multiple campuses, in addition to being actively involved in postgraduate training. The successful applicant will also participate in management and administration and should demonstrate a strong commitment to the promotion of teaching and learning.
About you

a PhD in pasture agronomy or a related discipline
knowledge and experience gained at postdoctoral level in pasture management for livestock production, with a track record of quality research publications
experience in developing and using spatial models, proximal/remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and/or other digital technologies for pasture production
track record of funding and experience in successful collaborative projects
the ability to lead an independent research program and be an enthusiastic team member
a willingness to promote SOLES and inter-Faculty activities through research and training programs
the ability to outline a vision for how your planned research would complement the existing strengths of the School
the ability to develop, coordinate, and provide specialist, research-led teaching on pasture production
experience of successful supervision of honours and higher degree research students is desirable
excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and time management skills
demonstrated understanding of relevant work health and safety and biosecurity issues
a valid driver's licence
a Q fever vaccination may be required prior to starting in the role
