Full time, 4 year Fixed term position commencing January 2025Salary Academic Level B ($109,770 - $130,355) / Level C ($134,469 - $155,057) + 17% SuperannuationBased at the Melbourne CBD campus About the Role The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Media is expected to contribute to teaching and research in the discipline of Media Production across a range of platforms in the School of Media and Communication. You will teach into the undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs and will also be responsible for maintaining and advancing scholarship, research and industry relationships in the field.
You will be expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics in the two Media programs, undertaking associated duties such as academic advising and student selection. You will be responsible for coordinating courses, potentially supervising postgraduate candidates, and will contribute to the development of the program.
To be successful for level B appointment, you will have: Demonstrated experience of creative media production across a range of contexts and platforms, and experience of teaching these practices within higher education.Demonstrated ability to prepare, coordinate, and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials in the field of media production.Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students, especially in relation to inclusive teaching practice and effective learning.In addition to the above criteria, to be successful for level C appointment, you will also have: Proven track record in and recognition for high quality research outputs in the field of media production, evidenced by publications and/or creative works (non-traditional research outputs / creative works), development of research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.Experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates.Demonstrated understanding of the financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.Qualifications Mandatory: PhD in relevant field
