Deakin Law School, which sits within the Faculty of Business and Law, is a diverse community of scholars teaching and researching in Australian, comparative, transnational and international law.
Deakin Law School is looking to appoint several developing or established scholars to ongoing academic positions. Scholars working in all fields of legal teaching and research are welcome to apply, with expertise in the following fields being particularly welcome: Property Law; Contract Law; Evidence; Criminal Law; Environmental Law; Family Law; and Workplace Law.
What will I do? As a Lecturer (Level B), Senior Lecturer (Level C), Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) in Deakin Law School, you will be actively involved in teaching and research, including:
Delivering student-centred education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, across a variety of teaching modes (asynchronous, synchronous online, and face-to-face);As a member or a leader of teaching teams, developing and implementing effective curriculum design and educational resources;Creating and administering a variety of assessment tasks, providing clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to students;Supervising research students (Honours and HDR);Contributing to a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the Law School, including mentoring of colleagues and building teaching and learning capability.You will also undertake scholarly research, publish in quality journals, secure research funding, and advance knowledge within your field. By developing a body of work recognised for quality and impact, you will build a national reputation. At senior lecturer level or above, you will also participate in and lead collaborations that enable high quality research with national or international impact and recognition.
You will foster relationships with other researchers, industry partners, the community, government, and the profession, contributing to the University's community engagement agenda and enhancing the scholarly reputation of the University.
To be successful, you will have: a PhD in lawan excellent (Levels B, C and D) or outstanding (Level E) record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs, including research supervision;an emerging (Level B), national (Level C) or international (Levels D and E) research reputation, underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or success in obtaining research funding;an ability to contribute to service and leadership within the Law School, commensurate with the level sought;an ability to contribute to community engagement around legal research and the teaching of law;strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues;a commitment to fostering relationships with fellow researchers, the profession, the community, industry, and government and with other higher educational institutions.Here's how to apply: Please submit your current academic curriculum vitae, a short cover letter, and responses to the Key Selection Criteria found in the position descriptions.
