Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is now looking to appoint a Lecturer in Public Health. You'll develop, coordinate, and teach relevant undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, offered by the Public Health and Tropical Medicine discipline on the Cairns and Townsville campuses.
Part time (70% / 25.375 hours per week) Fixed term for 3 years Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus Academic Level B: $106,593 - $125,774 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation. ABOUT THE ROLE With enthusiasm and passion for Public health, you will become a dynamic member of the Tropical Public Health and Medicine team as you design and deliver innovative and high-quality teaching and research. You will predominantly teach subjects delivered to undergraduate allied health professionals with some opportunity for postgraduate teaching.
This position offers you the scope to engage in research collaboration with associates in the College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences; the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine; the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre; The World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Vector borne and Neglected Tropical Diseases; other research centres within James Cook University (JCU); and external groups based within Australia and the region.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Master of Public Health degree (or equivalent), or equivalent professional/academic experience in the public health or health care field. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development and delivery and assessment of public health curriculum in various delivery modes for internal and external delivery of subjects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, with a focus on practical, real-world applications in healthcare settings. Demonstrated ability to engage in teaching, particularly in areas relevant to allied health, community health, or public health, within healthcare environments. Established networks within the local healthcare community, regional health services, or public health bodies within northern Queensland and Australia. High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, healthcare professionals, community organisations, and other key stakeholders. Extensive clinical or health professional experience within the Australian healthcare system (desirable). Demonstrated potential to contribute to research, in areas directly relevant to public health and healthcare delivery (desirable).
