Location: Perth, WAFull Time, 2 years Fixed TermThe College of Law Western Australia is based in Perth's CBD and is looking for a talented Lecturer to join our dynamic Practical Legal Training team.What do we offer?Attractive salary package: Salary range $141,583 - $197,205 inclusive of SuperannuationHybrid working environmentGreat benefits such as:o additional annual leave over Christmas periodo Employment Superannuation payments over and above government requirements.An exceptional opportunity to be part of the legal community and to support law students and early career lawyers in their career development journeysPurpose of the RoleThe primary responsibilities as a lecturer in the Western Australian PLT Program are to provide a high-quality teaching and learning experience to students and to make ongoing contributions to the academic mission of the College in the areas of curriculum development, academic management and administration, research and scholarship, and to the corporate life of the College in accordance with the College's strategic goals.Key AccountabilitiesThe key areas the Lecturer will be involved in are:Teaching & LearningProvide a high-quality learning experience to students, assisting them to achieve prescribed learning outcomes.Continually develop your own teaching methods and practices to apply high-quality, innovative learning techniques and use of materials that create interest, understanding, and enthusiasm amongst students.Management & AdministrationManaging the progress of students through their course of study, including maintaining email records and other records of participation, coursework, and assessment.Assist Executive Directors as required with student management including addressing any special needs and other issues as appropriate.About youThe successful applicant will have a strong knowledge and background in legal practice in Western Australia and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a willingness to provide mentoring with a student-centric approach.You will need to have:An enthusiasm for the practice of law and an ability to communicate that enthusiasm.Demonstrated capacity or willingness to provide mentoring and support to students, where required.An understanding of the role and responsibilities of law graduates at law firms.Demonstrated aptitude for teaching.Enthusiasm for the development and continual improvement of teaching skills.Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in a team.Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable.An understanding of the strategic context of the legal profession and its associated industries.Demonstrated ability or willingness to represent the College of Law at marketing events.Demonstrated ability to engage and foster stakeholder relationships.Essential qualificationsA tertiary qualification in law and eligibility to practise as a lawyer in an Australian jurisdiction.At least 5 years' post-admission experience as a legal practitioner in Western Australia.Desirable qualificationsA teaching qualification such as a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Education or equivalent professional education experience.Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents or hold a valid work permit or visa.As an employer who embraces equity, diversity, and inclusion and respects the rights of all people, we hold a collective commitment to foster an environment where all differences are valued.If interested please send covering letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role, and CV to Advertisement closes COB 20 November 2024#J-18808-Ljbffr
