Curtin's School of Accounting, Economics and Finance is seeking to enhance its capacity in teaching and research through the appointment of a Senior Lecturer in the Property Discipline, Teaching and Research, on a three-year contract. The School is multidisciplinary and offers a range of programs including high-quality undergraduate programs in Property. Continually fine-tuned to keep them consistent with industry expectations and standards, our Property courses provide students with a practical and intellectually stimulating educational experience. The School has an ambitious world-standard research agenda in Property and aims to provide a learning environment that combines high-quality and innovative teaching practices. The successful applicant will play an important leadership role in achieving that vision.
About The Role:
This role involves making significant contributions to teaching and research, with the balance between these two activities being flexible based on agreement through the Performance and Career Planning (PCP) process. The role also includes activities aimed at enhancing and developing scholarly teaching practices and delivering impactful research relevant to the discipline of property. The incumbent is expected to have an established record of achievement in teaching, research, and service/leadership.
Deliver high-quality and innovative teaching to undergraduate students across a range of modes and levels.Demonstrate a commitment to, and promote in others, ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.Develop pedagogically innovative curriculum at faculty and/or school level(s).Undertake effective leadership in learning and teaching.Supervise the program of study of honours students or postgraduate students engaged in coursework.Keep up to date with current discipline theory and practice.Undertake a broad range of administrative functions connected with unit/course coordination.Develop a coherent programme of research (to be agreed through PCP process).Play a significant role in securing and delivering research projects, including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team.Disseminate research findings through the media, seminars, workshops and academic/industry conferences.Publish in high quality refereed journals/outlets in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.Undertake principal and co-supervision of honours, masters, and doctoral students.Work towards international recognition for research in the discipline/field.Undertake administrative functions associated with research activities.Why choose Curtin? Essential Criteria: A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching.A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination in a Property-related discipline.An established record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.Evidence of an established national reputation.Proven ability to disseminate research findings through the media and other sources and to engage industry in the translation of research to impact.A track record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff and supervise HDR students.Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.Join Us!
