Apply locations: Herston Campus time type: Full time posted on: Posted 10 Days Ago job requisition id: R-46209 Academy for Medical Education Part time - Full-time (50 – 100%), fixed term position through to 31st December 2027 Base salary will be in the range $110,365 - $130,765 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level B) Based at our Herston Campus About This Opportunity We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to join the Academy for Medical Education (AME) and play a key role in the design and delivery of clinical skills (consultation, procedural, and professional skills) in Year 1 and 2 of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
As a Clinical Skills Lecturer, you will work closely with the Clinical Skills Lead to design, develop, and oversee the learning, teaching, and assessment of clinical competencies. You will also engage in evidence-based research focused on quality management, particularly in relation to clinical competency and the calibration of learning experiences.
Key responsibilities will include: Teaching: Collaborate with the Clinical Skills Lead to design and deliver clinical skills content for Years 1 and 2, including innovative teaching materials, learning activities, and assessments.
Support assessment and feedback processes, monitor student progress in clinical competency, and contribute to continuous quality improvement based on feedback.
Actively engage in relevant committees, foster collaboration, and support course teams to enhance teaching practices and the overall student experience.
Scholarship of Learning and Teaching: Develop a knowledge of effective pedagogical practices.
If relevant, collaborate in the development and execution of projects that enhance ways to improve teaching and learning.
Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies in curriculum design and implementation.
Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values.
The position reports to the MD Program Convenor, Academy for Medical Education.

About You Medical/healthcare qualification and experience as a medical/healthcare practitioner, and a research higher degree, or an equivalent level of experience. Formal qualification in education (e.g. HEA Fellowship) and evidence of a contribution to education research would be highly desirable. An up-to-date knowledge of the educational principles underpinning clinical skills competency and assessment. Experience in discipline-based clinical teaching, course coordination in a tertiary setting and demonstrated skills in interactive modes of teaching. Evidence of ability to ensure consistency of learning, teaching and assessment across multiple sites, years, and knowledge domains. A track record in the scholarship of teaching and learning as determined by grant income, supervision of higher degree students and/or publication record. Ability to establish effective relationships, work collaboratively with colleagues and to represent and promote the interests of the school to other academic units, government, and professional bodies. Experience in successful professional leadership and management in a clinical and/or educational environment. This position may attract additional salary loadings (clinical and/or state) within this role, based on the successful candidate's qualifications and registrations and subject to approval.
