Inspire and guide students as they embark on their pathway to tertiary education6 Month Fixed Term Appointment January – June 2025 /Part Time (0.6 FTE) / Teaching FocusedRemuneration pro-rata at Academic Level B $66,600 - $78,600 / Bundoora CampusAbout the position La Trobe University's Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Media and Communication. This teaching-focussed position is designed to help deliver the full Media and Communication curriculum as a back-fill for staff members on Long Service Leave and secondment. The successful applicant will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across the Media and Communication curriculum, including teaching core subjects in the Journalism major in the Bachelor of Media and Communication degree. At the end of the six month period, the successful applicant may be eligible to apply for a continuing full-time, teaching-focused Level B position in Media and Communication.
Duties at this level will include: Teach subjects providing a high-quality learning experience that engages students through the conduct of lectures, tutorials, workshops and/or other sessions in online, blended or face-to-face modes.Provide constructive, fair and timely feedback on learning to students.Work with subject or course coordinators on innovative subject and course level curriculum design, development and review in areas such as, but not restricted to, online and blended delivery, and assist in taking an evidence-based approach to evaluate how these initiatives improve the student experience.Skills and knowledge required for this position: A completed PhD in Journalism, Media and Communication or a cognate discipline, and evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to discipline or professional area.Demonstrated ability to be effective in teaching and curriculum development in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by, for example, high results on student feedback on teaching surveys relative to their peers, or through other forms of evidence.Evidence of innovative initiatives undertaken in the last three years that have improved the student experience.Demonstrated knowledge of media production and broadcast journalism as evidenced in relevant professional experience or prior experience in teaching subjects in these areas.How to apply
