$107,734 to $127,683 per annum (Level B)
Plus 17% employer superannuation

Located in UNE Sydney Campus and available for flexible, work from home or hybrid

About the role
As a Teaching Focused Lecturer, you will contribute to the innovation of learning, teaching, and assessment, and lead in the design and delivery of education at the University within the context of the Future Fit strategic plan. You are expected to make a significant contribution to teaching practice within the Academic Success directorate at UNE. The UNE academic development, career, and promotion frameworks will support your success in this position.
In this full-time role, you are expected to be based at and support all students studying at UNE's Sydney Metro campus to improve their academic literacy, focusing particularly on students from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB) and international students. As a Lecturer (Academic Skills), you will be responsible for identifying the specific needs of these cohorts and contributing to the development and delivery of teaching in various forms, and helping to create resources that focus on critical academic skills such as writing, reading comprehension, and oral communication in English.
Additionally, you will collaborate with faculty and other university support services to ensure a holistic approach to student learning. This position requires a deep understanding of students' challenges in academic language and learning and strong ability to implement effective pedagogical strategies that enhance learning outcomes for all students, particularly those facing language barriers.

Proven ability to develop curricula within a `digital first' environment and deliver essential teaching and assessment required for effective student learning in disciplines relevant to your position of appointment at UNE.
Active engagement in professional development and the scholarship of learning and teaching (SoLT) within the agreed UNE frameworks for improving educational innovation.
Contributions to governance, management, and quality assurance of learning and teaching that advance the quality and standards of education offered at UNE.
Evidence of external professional engagement and formal recognition of achievement in learning and teaching that enhances the national and international standing of UNE and contributes to the Future Fit goal of empowering communities.
Evidence of formal leadership of teaching and learning at UNE is appropriate to your level of appointment and aligned with the Future Fit strategic goal of supporting UNE to be a resilient and entrepreneurial university.
Perform well in a highly interactive team environment and act as a role model for excellence in academic-related activities, for example, through team-based teaching approaches.
Active contribution to other forms of academic service and administration under the direction of your supervisor.

The purpose of the Education Futures division is to drive academic excellence in a manner consistent with UNE's objective to be a leader in the design, practice and delivery of distance and online education, and an acknowledged provider of research and scholarship which addresses issues of importance in a regional context. UNE must be identified as an organisation that successfully deploys digital technologies to support educational access and student success. As a Teaching Focused Academic you will contribute to the innovation of learning, teaching and assessment, and exercise scholarship in the design and delivery of academic language learning at the University.
