An outstanding special educational needs school is looking for an outgoing and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with young people (aged 7-16 years) with learning difficulties and speech and language needs. You will be helping children on a 1:1 basis supporting learners to access learning. Your focus will be to enable them to become independent and confident individuals by teaching them essential life skills and ways to communicate effectively. This opportunity is needed on a full-time, permanent basis ASAP. This is a fabulous opportunity to join a lively team that focuses strongly on the core areas of education, independence and inclusion. This role is needed 08:30-4pm Monday-Friday starting ASAP.

Your responsibilities will include:
Interacting and participating with the students in the development of skills, supporting pupils to reach their potential for independenceSupporting clients' participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities within the local communityProviding the support and care identified in students' individual learning plansEncouraging and enabling students to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygieneParticipating in relevant training to achieve required qualifications and attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required
An ideal candidate may possess the following skills and capabilities:
The desire to help others to enjoy learning and develop independenceGCSEs with minimum Grade C/level 4 or equivalent, including Maths and English languageExperience of working with adults or children with learning or communication difficultiesHonest, trustworthy & ethical behaviour at all timesOwn means of transport (desirable)
