Horsham Special School was established in 1988, moving to its current site in 2013.
It provides educational programs for students aged 5-18 years displaying a range of disabilities.
The school's overarching purpose is to encourage and enable all students, staff, and the school community to achieve their full potential.The dedicated staff provides a highly individualised educational program for each student, extending beyond the classroom into outdoor play spaces and the local community.
Integral to the curriculum is the programming provided by specialist and therapy staff.Selection CriteriaSC1:

Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practice.SC2:

Expertise in implementing high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs.SC3:

Ability to monitor and assess student learning and support data-informed teaching practices.SC4:

Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills to engage with the school community.SC5:

Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values and facilitate professional learning.SC6:

Ability to lead the development of curriculum and pedagogical approaches in a Special Education setting.RoleLearning Specialists will be skilled classroom practitioners who spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching.
Responsibilities include teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating professional learning.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.Modelling exemplary classroom practice.Working with the school leadership team to develop effective teacher practice.Leading and modelling whole-school improvement strategies.Providing professional learning and developing observation and feedback protocols.Modelling effective learning practice and supporting teachers with feedback.Providing evidence-based feedback to inform teacher effectiveness.Mentoring and/or coaching teachers.Modelling exemplary use of student data.Developing school-wide professional learning structures.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.EEO AND OHS CommitmentApplicants seeking part-time employment are encouraged to apply.
