RoleLearning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning.
ResponsibilitiesLearning Specialist – English and Literacy Leader Overview: The Learning Specialist – English and Literacy Leader will work in collaboration with the College Principal Team, providing direction, guidance, and support to achieve high standards of literacy and English instruction across all learning areas.
Primary Responsibilities: Leadership and Vision Lead the development and implementation of a Whole School Literacy Action Plan aligned with the Science of Reading and the college's Strategic and Annual Implementation Plans.
Curriculum Integration and Support Lead and model effective literacy instruction in all curriculum areas, facilitating training and coaching to enhance teachers' expertise in integrating literacy skills across disciplines.
Data Analysis and Reporting Collect, analyse, and evaluate literacy data to inform interventions, track progress, and provide targeted support.
Professional Development and Mentorship Lead professional learning programs to upskill staff in high-impact literacy teaching strategies that align with the Science of Reading.
Community Engagement and Advocacy Promote the importance of literacy within the college and the broader community, engaging with parents, students, and stakeholders.
