Location Profile An exciting opportunity presents for a new Learning Specialist – English, at Reservoir Views Primary School commencing in 2025.
Over the last 5 years at Reservoir Views Primary School, we have transitioned to a structured literacy approach from Foundation to 6. The evidence-based method focuses on explicit, systematic instruction in the 'Big 6' of reading: oral language, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Phonics instruction is central, emphasising the relationship between sounds and letters, supported by daily practice with decodable texts.
Reservoir Views Primary School was established in 2009, the result of the merger between Keon Park Primary School and Burbank Primary School. The school is situated in Reservoir, 11kms north of Melbourne's CBD.
The school buildings are designed to promote collaborative learning and teaching, with flexible learning areas enabling teachers and students to work together and separately as needed.

Reservoir Views Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic educationalist who is committed to contributing towards the achievement of high standards in learning (for students and themselves), is a hands-on team-player, is actively involved in developing personal skills, is flexible and adaptable, and is passionate about education.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
SC2 Demonstrated expertise in the implementation and modelling of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs.
SC3 Demonstrated exemplary ability to model the monitoring and assessment of student learning.
SC4 Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5 Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning.
Responsibilities In recognition of the importance of exemplary practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:
Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice. Modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons. Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice. Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery. Playing a key role in the provision of professional learning. Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development. Supervising and training one or more student teachers and mentoring and/or coaching teachers. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
