Saint Stephen's College invites applications from dedicated Learning Enhancement Teachers for a full-time position beginning in Term One, 2025.Closing Date for Applications: 9am, Friday 17 January 2025.
The College reserves the right to shortlist and appoint prior to the closing date.
An extension to the closing date may also be applied at the College's discretion.The Learning Enhancement Department works with students on a personalised level and encourages them to reach their personal best.
This department and Learning Enhancement Teachers have a role within whole school initiatives to improve outcomes for all students, specifically those with learning disabilities.Teachers at Saint Stephen's College are expected to be experts in their academic disciplines and well-informed classroom practitioners, as well as champions of children's learning and development.
High levels of enthusiasm and a genuine respect for children underpin these expectations.
The main focus is to continuously seek to maximise curriculum delivery to achieve authentic learning outcomes for students through quality teaching, training, and coaching, with an emphasis on intentional instruction and blended learning.Teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to achieving the College's expectations for student wellbeing by supporting students to be their best selves and to help them become positive contributors to the community both now and in the future.

Our teachers work in partnership with students, families, and our community to achieve this.As well as curriculum-based activities, all teachers are expected to contribute to the efficient and effective operations of the College on a daily and annual basis by engaging in various activities, including playground duties, sports coaching/supervision, excursions, assemblies/presentations/celebrations, varied extracurricular activities, the application of the College's Student Code of Conduct, collaboration with parents/carers, participation in the College's spiritual and pastoral care events, departmental and staff meetings, professional development sessions, camps, and other similar duties.
In accordance with the Saint Stephen's College Enterprise Agreement, these duties may be during scheduled timetable allocations while other activities may fall outside of the timetable.DUTIESIdentifying, assessing, and supporting students experiencing difficulties in learning and planning for, implementing, and monitoring programs to support students with diverse learning needs, including assisting with special considerations for exams and managing IEPs.Collaborating with other teachers to build their capacity for managing diverse learning needs and working with classroom teachers in team teaching situations to coordinate assessments and manage short-term intensive instructions.Participating in the collaborative development and evaluation of programs, procedures, policies, student outcomes, and grant submissions with senior leaders, teachers, students, parents, and external specialists.Planning, preparing, and delivering quality teaching and learning programs consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.Maintaining teaching competency and knowledge of relevant curriculum programs.Interacting with students in various settings and contributing to inclusive learning environments while implementing the College's Student Code of Conduct.Providing for the physical, social, cultural, and emotional wellbeing and safety of students at the College.Assessing students for developmental, feedback, and reporting purposes.Maintaining student records and reporting on performance and engagement.Participating in the collaborative development and evaluation of curriculum and monitoring the effectiveness of the learning/teaching program.Establishing and maintaining appropriate interpersonal relationships with students, parents/carers, and community members.Liaising with parents/carers and external agencies to support students in achieving the College's expectations.Engaging in professional, reflective learning opportunities such as coaching and team meetings.Participating in College decision-making processes and professional development.Attending College functions, events, and activities as defined by the annual calendar.Teamwork and CommunicationDemonstrating a willingness to work positively within a team and independently.Practicing effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.Exhibiting excellent personal organisation, planning, and time management skills.Showing genuine commitment to the ideals of independent schools, including attendance at extracurricular activities.Committing to work within and support the Christian ethos, mission, and values of the College.Demonstrating passion, energy, enthusiasm, and commitment towards the role and the College.Working harmoniously to achieve an organisation-wide vision as set by the College leadership and Board.Knowledge and Skill RequirementsBachelor of Education or a degree/qualification with a Postgraduate Teaching Qualification (Special Education or Learning Support qualifications are expected).Current Queensland College of Teachers Registration (or eligibility to apply).Excellent knowledge of relevant curriculum.A thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum, benchmarked against the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers.Appropriate ICT skills and preparedness to integrate ICT into the learning process through Blended Learning.Demonstrated experience in blended learning with the ability to differentiate teaching programs.Ability to work with Online Learning Environments/Learning Management Systems.A proactive and professional approach that demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and high motivation.OtherCarrying out other duties as required by the Principal.Following and supporting the policies and procedures of the College.Maintaining a degree of flexibility in working hours as required.Accepting that the College reserves the right to modify the position to meet its operating needs.Complying with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and other safety guidance material.Protecting our ChildrenAll children have a right to be safe and protected from harm and neglect.
