This role supports Student Wellbeing across a range of EAL strategies, pedagogy, and programming for new arrivals and refugee students, as well as the coordination and implementation of sector initiatives for these students. This position suits someone with extensive experience in teaching and leadership in Catholic schools or other relevant settings.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Contribute to the capability uplift of school leaders to effectively implement MACS interventions, policies, and guidelines Provide expert advice and referrals to support school leaders and teachers to:Effectively assess and place newly arrived students on the EAL curriculum Understand and cater for the education and wellbeing needs of students who are newly arrived or from a refugee background Inform and improve educational outcomes for newly arrived students Identify and meet the needs of students and families through referral and support access to services Develop, coordinate, and/or deliver professional learning to build capability and competence in EAL leadership, pedagogy, strategies, and culturally responsive practice Complete accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping of consultations with schools and relevant stakeholders Membership of relevant MACS and sectoral working parties related to EAL implementation and new arrivals communities ABOUT YOU Demonstrated understanding of National and State legislative frameworks, policies, and priorities related to inclusive teaching pedagogical practices, including EAL curriculum design and the application of contemporary teaching, learning, assessment, and reporting for EAL students Demonstrated successful experience in developing contemporary, evidence-based teaching and learning approaches, including a broad range of assessment tools to inform teaching and learning for students with an EAL background and newly arrived migrants and refugees Demonstrated ability to build the capability of teachers and leaders in schools regarding inclusive teaching practices and curriculum provision, including the identification, development, and implementation of strategies to support assessment and targeted intervention for students with diverse learning needs Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders Strong time management skills to prioritise and plan workloads to meet deadlines Salary range for this position is $78,021 (T2/1) - $115,737 (T2/6) per annum exclusive of superannuation as specified in the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022, and may include additional allowances dependent on qualifications and experience. As a Learning Consultant, you will be eligible for school holidays.
This role is based out of the Western region office.
