Location ProfileThe Victorian School of Languages (VSL) is a government school committed to providing language programs for students in Years 1 to 12. The school offers over 40 languages and EAL across Victoria to 13,000 students in face-to-face classes and 1400 students in distance education.
RoleThe role of Area Manager entails managing a number of centres to deliver language curriculum to students from Foundation-Year 12. The Area Manager oversees all aspects of delivery, including the employment of casual sessional staff. Area Managers work from Tuesday to Saturday during term time.
Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to lead implementation of school priorities.
SC2 Ability to lead planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies.
SC3 Ability to monitor and assess student learning and use data to lead improvement initiatives.
SC4 Exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills to lead collaborative relationships.
SC5 Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values and contribute to professional learning.
ResponsibilitiesThe key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:
Leading and managing whole-school improvement initiatives.Leading curriculum planning and delivery.Providing professional development for teaching staff.Managing staff performance and development.Developing assessment and reporting policies.Managing student welfare and discipline policies.Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
