About Job: We are seeking a highly motivated Leading Hand to join our team in Alexandria, NSW. This key role will oversee kitchen production activities, ensuring smooth coordination between Kitchen Hands and the Line Leader. The ideal candidate will ensure product quality, maintain hygiene standards, and support the efficient workflow of the production line.
Description Position Overview: The Leading Hand plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations between the Kitchen Hands and the Line Leader. This role involves overseeing daily production activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the required standards, and supporting both the Kitchen Hands and the Line Leader to maintain efficient workflow and product quality. The Leading Hand ensures compliance with hygiene, safety, and product specifications while providing guidance and support to the team.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise Kitchen Hands: Ensure all tasks assigned to Kitchen Hands are carried out efficiently, including proper product assembly and adherence to quality standards. Quality Control: Regularly check the work of Kitchen Hands to ensure that products meet product specifications, such as correct placement of ingredients and visual presentation. Assist Line Leader: Act as the point of communication between Kitchen Hands and the Line Leader, ensuring that instructions are clearly relayed and production goals are met. Monitor Line Clearance: Ensure that line clearance protocols are followed and address any breaches immediately, reporting issues to the Line Leader as necessary. Oversee Cleaning and Hygiene Practices: Ensure proper clean downs, rubbish removal, and floor sweeping around the line. Confirm that PPE is properly changed after product handling or cleaning tasks. Equipment Oversight: Ensure that only trained staff operate equipment and report any issues with machinery to the Line Leader or relevant maintenance staff. Staff Training: Assist in training new staff by demonstrating the best practices for carrying out tasks and maintaining quality standards. Problem Solving: Identify and address any product or ingredient issues, such as foreign objects or quality concerns, and escalate them to the Line Leader. End-of-Day Procedures: Ensure that all end-of-day clean-down tasks are completed, and that equipment is thoroughly cleaned and ready for the next production cycle. Qualifications and Experience: Experience working in a food manufacturing facility, preferably in a high care environment. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on managing tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Ability to work under pressure, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard while adhering to safety and hygiene protocols. Proven ability to work as part of a team, effectively communicating between Kitchen Hands and the Line Leader. A can-do attitude with a proactive approach to addressing and resolving issues as they arise. This Leading Hand role is essential in maintaining the workflow, ensuring product quality, and supporting the smooth functioning of the kitchen production line.
