About this opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Leading Hand Cemeteries to lead and mentor a small team in delivering exceptional grounds maintenance services across our cemetery sites. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our cemeteries are maintained to a high standard, while also providing a compassionate service to the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a small team to carry out grounds' maintenance and grave-digging activities in cemeteries.
Operate and maintain various plant and equipment associated with grounds maintenance, including mowers, diggers, and other machinery.
Accurately follow cemetery plans, maps, and layouts, ensuring all record-keeping is precise and up to date.
Provide respectful and empathetic service to grieving families and the general public during sensitive interactions.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with council policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, ideally in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
Practical experience in the use of plant and equipment for grounds maintenance and grave-digging.
Strong map reading and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail.
Empathy and excellent communication skills when dealing with members of the public, particularly in sensitive situations.
A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Current Light Rigid (LR) Class driver's licence.
Desirable Qualifications:
Qualification in Horticulture or related field.
Certificate III in Funeral Services.
