Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School (MCPS) is located in Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island, 80km north of Darwin. We provide a holistic Catholic education for students in the Early Years to Year 6. Our staff, with the strong support of local Tiwi Teachers, and cultural and community leaders, are committed to making a difference every day in the lives of young Tiwi people.
Teaching on Tiwi is a privileged and extremely rewarding experience, where you will find yourself fully immersed in a culturally and spiritually rich environment. You will be required to collaborate with Tiwi Teachers as part of a two-way curriculum, teaching students who are socially and culturally different from you. You must be open to learning from those around you and in the community, even from your own students.
Person Specification: Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum, programming, planning and assessmentComprehensive knowledge of EAL/D programmes, pedagogy and strategiesDemonstrated excellence in teaching across a number of year levelsDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to work as part of a teamDemonstrated experience and skills in team teaching and team planningHigh level of organisational, communication and planning skillsAbility to lead and work collaboratively with staff, students, parents and external agencies.Ongoing Areas of Leadership: Leadership of curriculum initiatives that stem from the MCPS' Strategic Plan.Liaising with collaborative teams, Catholic Education Office (CENT), parents and other bodies eg Universities, NT Department of EducationCurriculum planning and programmingAssessment and ReportingProviding regular support to teachers, particularly new staff on planning, programming and assessment.Updating policies for all curriculum areas in consultation with teachersAttending Curriculum Coordinator meetings held at the CEO each term and providing feedback to staff at staff meetings.Overseeing programming to monitor teaching and learning programs and support teachers within this area.Coordinating whole school student reporting including editing and development of reporting timeline.Leading staff Professional Development and ensuring staff have the opportunity to share their professional learnings with other staff.Organisation and implementation of NAPLAN.Consider submitting an application if:
