Primary objective Coordinate the provision of corporate and business support functions within the organisation.
Provide operational supervision for the business support unit.
The role is responsible for assisting the Manager Strategic and Business Support Services with the operational delivery within the unit for ministerial liaison, committee and council secretariat services, delegations, finance and procurement, information requests and management, corporate governance and reporting, travel, building maintenance, vehicle management, training, data management, systems support and all corporate activities.
Key duties and responsibilities: Provide advice to the leadership team and staff on the provision of corporate and business functions to support business capabilities and systems in the division and governance matters.
Provide resource supervision for the unit to enable the provision of complete, reliable and timely financial and other business information.
Assist with the preparation of procurement activities for the division including the management of procurement actions for contracts for the provision of services.
Assist with the coordination of business planning deliverables and reporting updates to ensure strategic and business plan objectives and operational requirements are being routinely achieved.
Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with NTG centralised service providers to achieve outcomes.
Develop and implement continuous improvement of internal business support unit operating processes and procedures ensuring compliance with department and NT Government corporate policies and procedures to ensure an effective and efficient compliance for the division.
Actively participate as a member of the leadership team, contributing innovative ideas and solutions to all aspects of the division.
Represent the division on committees or working groups as required.
Coordinate divisional administrative responses to meet corporate timeframes.
Supervise the business support unit, providing training and guidance where required.
Selection criteria: Essential: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of various computer systems, record management, business systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary best practice in business management, information and technology management, project management, contract and procurement management practices and delivering corporate services.
Demonstrated knowledge of policy development, governance principles, quality management principles and performance monitoring and reporting frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply policies, legislation, business plans and financial reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of human resource management practices to ensure the effective supervision and co-ordination of staff resources and develop work plans that make the best use of the capabilities and strengths of team members.
Ability to monitor team task progress against performance expectations.
Desirable: Sound knowledge of Cabinet and Ministerial correspondence procedures and processes.
Knowledge and understanding of public sector administration and machinery of government processes.
