Full time, Continuing positionLocated at La Trobe University's Melbourne (Bundoora) CampusHEO4 –$70,957 - $75,072 + 17% SuperannuationAbout the position The La Trobe University Community Children's Centre is located at the La Trobe University Bundoora campus, and primarily supports the La Trobe University community, including University staff and students. The Centre offers three programs to families: All Day Care, Sessional Care and the Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Centre (ASELCC). The Centre is part of the La Trobe University and works within the broader University framework.
The Lead Support Early Childhood Educator is responsible for working with the Educational Leader and Room Lead to develop, lead, and deliver high quality early education and care for young Autistic children that is consistent with the Centre philosophy, values, policies, and the Early Years learning Framework and the National Quality Framework. In addition, this position works to implement leadership practices to support their education team with day-to-day operations, including to engage in collaborative and reflective practice. The Lead Support Educator works with direction from the Room Lead Educator, Centre management and the Educational Leader, and in collaboration with other Centre staff to drive pedagogical practices. 
This position collaborates with Allied Health and specialist education staff to develop a curriculum responsive to each child's needs. In addition, this position supports with developing and implementing a curriculum that incorporates each child's needs and individual goals. This position is trained in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), a play-based early autism support model and in engaging with families to support their needs. This position is a fantastic opportunity for an educator who is committed to strong leadership, inclusive educational practice, supporting Autistic children to flourish, and to collaborative practice within a dynamic team. Centre is rated as meeting in all areas of the NQS and has a strong commitment to child-centered practice, inclusive practice and positive workplace culture.
Skills and Experience To be considered for this position, you will have;
Diploma or Certificate 3 level qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care with more than two years relevant work-related experience, including leadership role.Willingness to learn, including ongoing professional development to support each child's early intervention program and development.Build and maintain professional, collaborative, inclusive and positive relationships with the children and families of the service.Implement practices that actively protect children's safety and rights.Adhere to practices to ensure all documentation is completed as required across all areas, including observations, planning and Centre procedures. Ability to demonstrate self-awareness, see things from another person's perspective and actively seek out and act on feedback to improve knowledge, skills and behaviour.Please refer to the Position Description for other duties, skills and experience required for this position.
