This position was created through our recent operating model update to build on the global nature and impact of our business.Reporting to the Vice President Metallurgy & Processing, you will provide technical support in developing a centralised connection to existing plant metal accounting systems and establish and manage corporate metallurgical and processing plant databases and data warehouse. You will also establish data visualization and analytical tools to identify operational deviations, analyse plant data, and review with the Principal and Site Metallurgical and Process Control teams to identify and implement improvement opportunities.This role is offered on a Monday to Friday roster on a permanent basis, with global travel.Benefits include:Short- and Long-Term IncentivesEducational assistanceAbout the role:Establish data transfers or connections to existing plan metal accounting systems and data historians and establish a new corporate processing data warehouse;Manage corporate-based metallurgical and processing plant databases;Establish routine data visualization, e.g., plant performance dashboards and trends, to identify operational deviations from normal or optimal performance;Conduct more detailed reviews of plant performance using analytical data to identify improvement opportunities;Work with the domain Principal Specialists Metallurgists, Principal Control Engineer, and operational metallurgists to identify plant performance improvement opportunities that can be realized through routine data analysis and feedback and to facilitate their exploitation;Manage and coordinate existing external specialist plant performance and data review programs (e.g., MillROC) and establish new programs when applicable (e.g., flotation, thickening, gold leaching, or gold recovery systems);Support optimising process plant assets through direct involvement in Operations Reviews and implementing benefits with other disciplines, focusing on improvements associated with data analytics;Stays abreast of best-practice plant performance evaluation tools and is involved in transferring these skills to operational staff;Develop effective links to global process plant optimization peers and other organizations;Maintains knowledge of the latest technologies and benchmarking outcomes and ensures knowledge transfer to process plant staff;Design and be the custodian of corporate-based plant databases for the Group;Engages with discipline peers, Business Improvement, and site management to identify cross-value-chain optimization opportunities and to drive sustainable implementation at priority sites.About you:Relevant bachelor's degree in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering or equivalentPrior extensive experience in processing optimisationApplied knowledge in several of the following Mineral Processing major unit processes: comminution, sizing/classification, dewatering, flotation, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy (gold leaching, pressure oxidation), carbon elution/regeneration, electrowinning, smelting, refining and/or tailings storageSome experience with data storage and/or data historian systems and statistical/data analysis methods is preferredKnowledgeable of leading practices and technologies being applied in the processing disciplinesMulticultural, multi-country exposure would be beneficialBasic project management skills and knowledgeWe work across geographies, with diverse teams and cultures.
