Job Summary: As a Lead Process Engineer, you will be leading and working with a team of process engineers to develop the process design for studies and projects. You will be providing technical leadership and expertise, and you will be working with your teams to help them develop their technical skills. You will be interfacing with clients to understand their requirements and needs, and developing solutions that are fit-for-purpose and cost effective. Your coordination will ensure that complex technical issues are resolved, clients are satisfied, and project needs are met. There will be opportunities for site-based work, international assignments and technical specialization based on your performance and your interests. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities: Lead process teams to deliver the technical scope within the agreed schedule, budget, and technical quality. Lead the development and checking of process deliverables that are typical of detailed engineering (such as process design criteria, mass & energy balances, process flow diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, P&IDs, control philosophy, OPEX). Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, construction, vendors, consultants, subject matter experts, and client teams to deliver the project successfully. Contribute to the review and optimizations of project design, cost, safety, constructability, and schedule. Contribute to process team development and growth through mentoring and coaching. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, or Chemical Engineering. 13-15 years of relevant experience in process engineering in the mining & metals industry. At least 6 years experience in process engineering design and the preparation of typical process deliverables. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). Required Knowledge and Skills: Detailed understanding of concentrator design (crushing, grinding, classification, flotation, regrind, thickening). Good understanding of latest and emerging process technologies and equipment. Well-developed skills of communication, leadership, and problem solving. Expertise as a Subject Matter Expert in particular fields of mineral processing and metallurgy will be well-regarded. Experience in mineral processing plants either from operations or commissioning/plant start-up would be highly regarded. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
