12+12+12 Month Federal Government ContractSydney Office (Hybrid)NV1 Clearance requiredOur Federal Government Client, focused on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, requires a hands-on Platforms Engineer with technical leadership experience.
This role will act as the primary technical lead for the Platforms (DevOps) team, with responsibility for defining technical procedures, standards, and ways of working.
Key duties and responsibilities: The role sits within a team of highly skilled platform engineers, within the Department's Technology and Platform Solutions (TPS) division, part of the ITS branch.The team has operational accountability and responsibility for designing, deploying, monitoring, and patching AUSTRAC's foundational applications.
The team is also responsible for working with internal and external agile teams to deliver new and updated business applications into production (the majority of new applications being deployed onto Kubernetes).
All deployed applications must follow standard patterns to minimise complexity and support costs.All activities must follow modern Infrastructure as Code practices, leveraging automated CI/CD pipelines for deployments.The production environment is run on managed hardware (i.e., all production infrastructure is on-premise).
Cloud infrastructure is leveraged but currently only for development activities.Their network is classified as Protected, so security risk identification and mitigation is a key focus area for the role, following the Australian Government's Information Security Manual (ISM).Technical skills:
The candidate must have demonstrated strong technical skills in the following areas:
Ansible.Git source control.Infrastructure as code builds and deployments (ideally with knowledge of Kustomize for deployments onto Kubernetes).Kubernetes platform deployments (ideally with Kubespray).Apache Reverse Proxy (ideally with mod_security).The resource must possess the ability to learn new technologies and technical patterns quickly to support changing business requirements.
