Mechanical Engineering Lead Location: Hamilton, Brisbane
About the opportunity: If you're ready to take the next step in your career as a mechanical engineer, we have an opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work in our Platform Integration team.
You will be joining a team of engineers providing engineering design and integration across various platforms for Australian and International customers.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our experienced team at our Hamilton facility to support current programs and future business growth opportunities.
Within the Hamilton facility, the Lead Mechanical Engineer will become a member of the Platform Integration Team, who is responsible for providing subject matter expertise that specializes in mechanical design and integration of communications systems, products and ancillaries onto various land, sea or air platforms.
Responsibilities of the role include the following: Ensuring the conversion of customer requirements, both formal and informal, into solutions that balance the technical, schedule and cost constraints for the platform design. Leading aspects of the engineering program in development, technical reviews, integration or verification within the scope of the contract to conclusion with the customer. Co-ordinating with parties (including subcontractors) who are providing engineering services for the project; ensuring understanding of their responsibilities, the processes to be used, and the time-frames involved. Providing guidance on the mechanical aspects of vehicle integration design and on verification of the mechanical requirements. Guidance and oversight of the manufacture of locally designed integration hardware. Development of system analyses, trade studies and design artefacts as determined. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
Examples include: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems Extensive post-graduate engineering experience. Ability to work in an agile work environment. Strong consulting, employee relations, conflict management, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to navigate effectively within engineering tools and business management system. Working knowledge of navigating regulatory requirements, standards and specifications. Chartered Professional Engineering Member with Institute of Engineers Australia. Registered Professional Engineer with Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ). Preferred Additional Skills: Experience working in the Defence industry is a preference, though operating within a complex, large international business will also be considered. Important to know Due to the nature of our work, many roles require an Australian nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
