Mardie, Port Hedland, Karratha & Pilbara WADo you enjoy sharing your health & safety knowledge and providing specialised advice to site personnel?Do you want to be part of a collaborative health & safety team working on the first major salt project developed in Australia in two decades?Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Lead Health & Safety is to provide advice and services to site-based line management in the application of Health & Safety practices, as well as providing specialised advice in technical areas.The Lead Health & Safety will support the ongoing maintenance and continual improvement of H&S governance and of the BCI Minerals (BCI) Health & Safety Management system.
This role supports the project, commissioning, operations teams and contractors.
Furthermore, this role will be responsible for supporting contractor management, and the site leadership team.As construction progresses at Mardie, we are continuing to shape our team.

The Lead Health & Safety will need to be able to support other departments and teams through open communication, participation and promote positive workplace cultures and behaviours for employees and contractors on site.Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Leadership: Manage the site Health & Safety and medical personnel, ensuring tasks are completed within required timeframes.Planning and Coordination: Participate in overall Health & Safety planning, liaising with the Site Leadership team to schedule key tasks and objectives.
Support other departments through open communication and provision of resources.Culture Promotion: Promote a positive workplace culture and behaviours, championing psychosocial risk management processes and implementation.Training and Coaching: Coach and support BCI and Contractors in Health & Safety matters, ensuring compliance with training requirements and competency assessments.Management Systems Maintenance: Assist in maintaining BCI's Health & Safety Management System, supporting Crisis and Emergency Management systems, and driving implementation of Critical Controls Standards and Fatality Prevention Programs.Auditing and Inspection: Oversee audits and inspections to ensure compliance with BCI and legislative requirements.
Provide feedback and support action plans for workplace inspections and audits.Risk Management: Ensure risk assessments are conducted, communicated to stakeholders, and actioned appropriately.
Support Change Management processes and contractor risk assessments.Incident Management: Facilitate incident reporting, recording, and investigation according to BCI standards.
Communicate lessons learned and ensure timely closure of actions.Contractor Management: Support contractor mobilisation, conduct Health & Safety audits, and monitor contractor performance, ensuring adherence to BCI Minerals requirements.Injury Management and Medical: Support injury management processes, ensure compliance with medical protocols, and coordinate medical resources effectively.Health Compliance: Coordinate health and hygiene programs, verify compliance with management plans and risk assessments.General Management: Maintain stocks of health, safety, and medical consumables, ensuring expenditure is within budget and approved.About You:The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the field and come with a solid understanding of Work Health & Safety Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes and Guidelines for Western Australia.
You will have proven ability to develop, implement and maintain Health and management systems on a project site and have experience with risk management techniques and processes.It is imperative that you have experience leading and coaching a team of site-based Health & Safety and medical response personnel.
You have to have strong communication skills with the ability to contexture your approach across various stakeholders throughout the business.
Having your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable, but you must have your Lead Auditor Qualification and experience in incident investigations and reporting.
