Wood is currently looking for an experienced CO2 Flow Assurance Engineer.
Wood provides independent consulting services for Energy and Flow Assurance and is recognised as a world leader in its area of expertise.
To support the continued growth, we are searching for a solution-orientated and creative engineer who has the technical knowledge and people leadership skills to play a leading role in the evolving energy transition market as a CO2 transport specialist, as part of the Intelligent Operations business unit.

Responsibilities
A solid career foundation in flow assurance and process engineering for hydrocarbon systems
Demonstrated experience in the design and/or operation of CCS systems, be familiar with different elements of the value chain and have a focus on CO2-rich fluid transport and storage
Extensive experience in addressing challenges associated with transport of CO2-rich fluid, including phase equilibria and thermodynamics, thermophysical properties of such fluids and the impact of impurities, thermo-hydraulic aspects and chemical reactions
Full familiarity with existing process and flow assurance modelling tools, and technologies and their limitations specifically for CO2-rich fluid modelling
An integrated systems focus with demonstrable knowledge of the upstream (process) and downstream (wells, reservoir) aspects and the ability to manage multiple interfaces
Familiarity with CO2/CCS industry standards, codes and good practice guidelines
Customer focus with client-facing experience, proven study management and delivery to budget and schedule expectations
Strong influencing skills, specifically for clients and/or external parties
The ability to build and maintain effective relationships, internally and externally
A demonstrable background managing teams and mentoring junior/intermediate engineers
Further Areas Of Technical Experience Are Desirable
H2 transport modelling, blending analysis
Cryogenic transport experience (LNG, ammonia, liquid H2)
Operations experience
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Drive excellence in the execution and delivery of contracted activities
Assist with winning and delivering consultancy services
As a lead specialist engineer - ensure CO2 transport projects are designed and developed to the highest standard
Responsible for meeting discipline cost and schedule requirements in production of deliverables, coordinates own work schedule, and prepares progress
Responsible for the checking or approval of simulations, calculations, and deliverables in accordance with Wood procedures
Perform steady state and transient flow simulations for on gaseous and dense phase/supercritical CO2-rich fluid systems
Support and lend expertise to wider flow assurance delivery (H2, oil, gas/condensate systems, water injection, chemical injection, etc)
Represent Wood in front of customers (project/study management and support in developing strategic relationships with clients)
Contribute to proposals
Supervise and coach junior/intermediate engineers
Qualifications
Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in an engineering discipline, including chemical engineering, flow assurance, mechanical engineering.
Chartership, Professional Engineer (PE) status or equivalent relevant professional license/registration from a recognised national or industry engineering institution is desirable.
To be successful in this role, the following skills and experience will include:
Ability to demonstrate initiative, tenacity and have excellent communication skills
Significant experience (typically >10 years) in design and/or operation of subsea or onshore pipeline systems and fully familiar with different elements of the CCS value chain from process to pore
Fully familiar with challenges associated with transport of multiphase, hydrocarbon and CO2-rich fluids, including fluid mechanics, phase equilibria and thermodynamics, thermophysical properties of such fluids, chemical interactions, key flow assurance risks and integrity risks
Fully familiar with existing fluid modelling tools/thermodynamic engines e.g.
Multiflash or PVTSim (preferably the former) flow assurance modelling tools (OLGA, PIPESIM, LedaFlow, etc)
Strong technical writing skills, specifically for issuing project reports to clients and/or external parties
Ability to assist with identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
