Job Description Lead Engineer - 51963 PermanentSydneyHow will I help? Your role will be to lead a stream, being responsible for both design and build.
You will work with other stream Lead engineers to ensure consistency for similar patterns, devOps processes etc.
You will be responsible for leading the engineers and solution designers in your stream, so you will need strong design skills in addition to your coding skills.
You will be coding, and you will be expected to be the person in the stream that any developer would go to for coding help.
You will work with the other lead engineers and the Chief Engineer to build a better engineering practice and look to implement continuous improvement practices in everything you do.
You will also lead the solution designers and be responsible for the technical design of the stream.
This is a multi-year transformation program.
We are currently recruiting the development teams that will form the core of any future ramp up/down driven by the sprint back-log.
In parallel to delivering a top business outcome for the bank, we are looking to build a strong and enduring engineering capability within WIB.
Communicating complex ideas and solutions with technical leaders & business stakeholders, the Lead Software Engineer will be well equipped to provide and follow technical engineering advice and recommendations.

What do I need? You will need to have superior people and communication skills, working with other engineering Leads, Solution Designers, architects and Squad Facilitator to drive the outcome.You will be a Lead engineer with a strong understanding of banking.On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate across teams and functions, working with Senior Engineers, Lead Engineers, Scrum Facilitators, Product Owners, Chief Engineers and DevOps Specialists who are collectively driven to provide industry-leading solutions for the bank and its customers.
You must be a team player and be passionate about supporting the team and wider function on ad-hoc tasks.Must have a strong background in UI and/or API development.Must have a strong background in Cloud technologies.Must have a very technical background.Good written and verbal communication skills.Prior experience in solution design and working as a solution designer across multiple programs.Background in software development & agile methodologies.Experience in complex solution designs and hands-on experience within implementation phases.Experience in designing and/or implementing credit decisioning application integration design patterns.Extensive experience in solution designs focused on application integration on complex infrastructures ideally in financial services and banking environments.Min 5 years' experience in a similar role.What's it like to work there?
