Lead Electrical Engineer

Our business is values-based and growing, with a bright future underpinned by teamwork and high performance.Our engineers have extensive experience improving production processes in Manufacturing, Ports and rail, Resources and Energy Industries all around Australia, with offices in Perth, Wollongong, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.The RoleAs a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will oversee the delivery of electrical engineering work packages for the project. This includes managing resources, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards, and providing hands-on project engineering. Your role will be critical in ensuring fit-for-purpose, timely, and budget-conscious solutions across the project's electrical components.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety and Leadership:Maintain a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with PPM's policies and HSE standards.Complete required safety activities, including monthly audits.Electrical Design Leadership:Manage the Electrical Engineering team to align project scope and capital estimates with delivery strategy.Establish high-quality engineering systems, processes, and standards.Coordinate and allocate resources in consultation with the Engineering Manager.Design Engineering:Develop electrical scopes of work, standards, and specifications for the project.Perform electrical design tasks, including calculations, sketches, and drawing reviews.Ensure alignment across disciplines, including reviewing mechanical drawings and P&IDs.Project Engineering:Prepare technical specifications, tender packages, and manage procurement processes.Support construction and commissioning phases, ensuring timely delivery of design information.Assist with operational readiness, including maintenance and training materials.Risk and Stakeholder Management:Identify and actively manage risks associated with assigned work packages.Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including end users and contractors.About YouQualifications and Experience:Tertiary qualification in Engineering with 10+ years of professional experience.Proven expertise in managing the engineering aspects of capital projects in heavy industry.Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, and environmental standards.Skills and Knowledge:Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software, and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and Project).Strong understanding of engineering, construction, and commissioning processes.Familiarity with Australian and industry standards and regulations.Ability to manage risks, prioritise tasks, and deliver within budget and schedule.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Preferred Attributes:Experience in tendering, negotiating, and managing major equipment and construction contracts.Knowledge of heavy industrial manufacturing facilities and infrastructure.Competence in coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams.What We OfferA dynamic and collaborative team environment.Opportunities to contribute to innovative projects in the Australian steel manufacturing sector.A role where you can make a significant impact on project outcomes.
