The Project also includes the design and construction of associated off-board scope including bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the functionally safe operation of the new reclaimers.
Job Summary:As Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project's electrical engineering aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:Plans and conducts independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.Develops conceptual designs for electrical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.Other responsibilities as designated.Education and Experience Requirements:Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:Relevant work experience in FEED, proposal & detailed engineering preferably in an EPC/EPCM industry for large industrial plants, power projects, utilities, oil and gas plants.Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computer applications within the Electrical engineering discipline.Experience in design, procurement, construction, commissioning or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities or process plants is desirable.Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods and of precedents in the Electrical discipline and principles and practices of inter-related disciplines.Knowledge of related construction practices and the associated costs.Knowledge of application and coordination of 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools on a project.Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
