Job Opportunity: Lead Design EngineerJob Type: ContractLocation: AdelaideAkkodis is looking for a Lead Design Manager to join our State Government Client based in Adelaide.Responsibilities: Manage a team of Design Managers to provide a high-quality engineering service relating to all aspects of technical risk and delivery whilst delivering a small number of engineering multi-disciplinary projects.Maintain the integrity of the Corporate Compliance Framework by adhering to all organizational and legal obligations including legislation, regulations, codes of practice, licenses, policies, processes, and work instructions.Build and lead an effective team.Build and maintain a strong, constructive working relationship with direct reports, focused on achieving business goals and enabling staff to work safely to their full potential.Set effective baseline conditions for productive work by completing important people management processes of selection, induction, assessment, and recognition of performance.Hold quality conversations providing relevant and timely feedback and invest in the development of our people to build capability.Work collaboratively with Senior Portfolio Engineers and other Lead Design Managers to leverage collective capability, make timely and robust decisions, and deliver to meet commitments.Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement to build a culture of service excellence.Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.Ensure compliance with SA Water's Safety in Design (SID) process to eliminate or minimize health and safety risks arising from design throughout the asset life cycle.Consult with designers to ensure health and safety risks arising from design during construction are eliminated or minimized.Ensure team compliance with SA Water and Engineering safety and wellbeing processes and initiatives.Demonstrate safety leadership by role modeling the safety behaviors and culture defined by the Engineering Safety Framework.Lead technical teams in delivering consistent, best for business, accurate, and timely technical information/outputs across SA Water.Utilize Float effectively to manage team/individual workloads and allocate resources to meet the risk and complexities of programs and projects.Facilitate the development of design management capability within the team.Achieve effective team design delivery and provide evidence of meeting identified milestones.Develop understanding and use of SAW's Safety in Design Standard, displaying evidence of team compliance in relation to designs, project deliverables, and technical documentation.Work with the wider Engineering team and key business partners to develop and resource accurate scopes of work.Ensure programs and projects are delivered within allocated budgets and timeframes, and in accordance with the multi-disciplinary design process.Keep clients updated with project progress and costs via regular reports.Create a personal development plan for self and team members with clear milestones and measurables for success.Maintain effective relationships and communication with Senior Portfolio Engineers and other Lead Design Managers.Develop and maintain effective communication with the extended Engineering team and key stakeholders.Support a knowledge sharing culture across the Corporation.Participate in team meetings and hold 1-on-1 discussions with direct reports as required.Reach out to us for a confidential chat and learn more about this exciting opportunity!
