The Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS) has a new opportunity for a Lead - Data Improvement Projects to join our team.
TALS specialises in providing culturally appropriate legal assistance, advice, and support in the areas of criminal, civil, and family law to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Tasmania. We also influence policy, law reform, and operate a number of programs in the justice sector.

The role The Lead - Data Improvement Projects will support the organisation to make our data more useful. The role involves mapping our data requirements, ensuring our systems are capturing the required data, enabling efficient and meaningful reporting, developing mechanisms to train and ensure data input remains compliant with our organisation's needs. This role will work across multiple systems and have clear goals to achieve in the required timeframes. Working alongside our team and stakeholders is critical for the success of this position.
Selection criteria Proven experience in data-driven projects resulting in successful and timely outcomes.Understanding of systems such as Action Step and Employment Hero or similar systems/databases.Proven experience in both internal and external stakeholder management and the ability to build effective relationships with a variety of people.Excellent IT, data, numerical, written, and verbal communication skills.A strong commitment to social justice and an understanding of the justice and legal settings in Tasmania and across Australia.Understanding of Aboriginal communities in Tasmania and a commitment to progress and action towards justice and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.What we offer A competitive salary is on offer and will depend on experience.
We also provide the option to salary sacrifice up to $18,550 per year (increasing your take-home pay). Our team also enjoys flex time benefits and generous leave provisions.
This position can be based in either Hobart or Launceston.
Requirements The successful candidate will need to undergo a National Police Check and apply for a Working with Vulnerable Persons registration prior to commencement of employment.
